Heat exchangers

A heat exchanger is a pressure equipment that facilitates exchange of heat between two fluids that have different temperatures.
Heat exchangers are used in many engineering applications, such as chemical processing systems, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning systems, power plants, food processing systems and waste heat recovery units.

We manufacture anti-corrosion shell and tube heat exchangers, where the corrosive product is always in contact with corrosion-resistant materials such as glass, silicon carbide, PTFE and/or PFA.
There are 3 different types of heat exchangers:

  • SFA type: corrosive product circulates inside the shell
  • SFB type: corrosive product circulates inside the tubes
  • SFC type: corrosive product circulates inside both sides

SFA type

Show more Show less

The SFA type’s tube sheets on the shell side and on the jacket side are entirely glass lined, with PTFE baffles, silicon carbide tubes and stainless steel tube side.
The product is introduced into the jacket side and the tube side is filled with service fluid.

The SFA type has a drain in the lower part to visually check for leaks, and it can also be pressurised or connected to an automatic control system when particularly dangerous products are being used.

Silicone carbide tubes

  • Made of sintered silicon carbide
  • High thermal conductivity: twice that of tantalum, 5 times that of stainless steel, 10 times that of Hastelloy® and 15 times that of glass
  • Excellent resistance to corrosion from practically all chemical substances with temperatures up to 200°C
  • Exceptional hardness: 50% greater than tungsten carbide for extremely wear resistant tubes
  • Completely impervious providing total impermeability at high temperatures and pressures

Design specifications

  • Pressure: – 1 bar to + 6 bar (FV/87 psig)
  • Temperature: – 25°C to + 200°C (- 13°F to + 392°F )

Design codes

  • VSR/AD-Merkblätter/ASME Section VIII Div.1/CE marking
  • PED 97/23/EC Module G Category IV

Glass lining

  • Multipurpose G2208 glass available in dark blue, light blue and white
  • Electrically conductive G2208 “Sigma Glass” available in blue
  • Thermally conductive G2208 “Phi Glass” available in medium blue

Glass quality checked as specified by DIN 28063
The following controls are performed:

  • Visual inspection
  • Thickness control
  • StatiFlux testing (electrified particle test)
  • Spark test as specified by ISO 2746
Operated at 20.000 V immediately after glass lining; at 12.000 V prior to shipment

Tube sheet & sealing system

  • Tube sheet available in glass lined carbon steel, silicon carbide and PFA lined carbon steel
  • Sealing system with double O-ring and safety chamber to detect leaks

A new sealing system is now available for more advanced sealing reliability

SFB type

The SFB type’s tube sheets on the shell side and on the jacket-side are made of stainless steel, with PTFE baffles, silicon carbide tubes and entirely glass-lined distributors on the tube side.
The service fluid is introduced into the jacket side and the tube side is filled with product.

The SFB type has a drain in the lower part to visually check for leaks and can also be pressurised or connected to an automatic control system when particularly dangerous products are being used.

SFC type

Show more Show less

The SFC type has entirely glass lined shell side and tube sid, with PTFE baffles and silicon carbide tubes.
Therefore two corrosive products can be treated contemporaneously by introducing one into the jacket side and the other into the tube side.

The SFC type has a drain in the lower part to visually check for leaks, and can also be pressurised or connected to an automatic control system when particularly dangerous products are being used.

  • Excellent resistance to corrosion from practically all chemical substances up to 200°C
  • Exceptional hardness: 50% greater than tungsten carbide which makes the tubes extremely wear resistant
  • Completely impervious providing total impermeability at high temperatures and pressures
