Filtration

Solid–liquid separation plays a vital role in the production processes of different industries, from chemicals processing to food & beverage, whenever solid matter has to be separated from a diluted or concentrated slurry.
Moreover, and especially for high purity solid products, filtration needs to be combined with washing to replace the mother liquid in the solid matter with a clean liquid or to dissolve undesired contaminants left in the solid matter.

We provide support to industries to obtain the ideal filtration solution and to combine it with other critical functions and operation units.

Our process solutions

Combining extensive experience in designing and manufacturing agitated Nutsche filters with process expertise, we now offer a broad range of solutions, from standalone filters or filter dryers to modular turnkey systems to contemporaneously satisfy functional needs and efficiency with project costs and execution time.

We provide agitated Nutsche filters operating under pressure and performing multi functions for:

  • Inertisation
  • Filtration (solid – liquid separation)
  • Cake smoothing
  • Displacement washing
  • Re-slurry washing
  • Cleaning-in-place (CIP)

High containment, particularly critical with APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) and especially with HPAPIs (highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients), is also ensured through different purpose glove boxes.

As high as the filtration process efficiency is, a drying step is also usually required to obtain a dry solid. Products in dry solid form can be easily produced using our dryers or filter dryers, thus enabling multiple steps with one single piece of equipment to be performed.

More about filter dryers

Should a customer so request, modular filtration and drying systems may include:

  • Auxiliary equipment
  • Instrumentation
  • Piping
  • Glove box

Cognizant of the fact that all processes are interrelated and that inefficiencies in one process stage can affect neighbouring processes, we provide support to industries with an increasingly systemic approach from reaction up to the dry powdered final product, integrating different operation units, provided as standalone equipment or modular systems.

To identify the most appropriate filtration solution, we rely on our R&D centre equipped with laboratory and pilot units. Tests are run on samples provided by the customer to study product filterability, to select the filtration media, to identify the ideal process parameters and to support scale-up.

Different physical and chemical parameters can also be determined, including solid content, density and residual moisture.
Process validation and reliability verification tests can also be run at the customer’s premises using rental pilot units: field support, during tests, is available on request.
From testing to engineering and plant design, a dedicated team of scientists and engineers are available to assist and support our customers, working together one step at a time.
