Drying is a common process step during the production of solid products in different industries, from chemical processing to food & beverage. This is generally required after a solid–liquid separation step is carried out to remove the residual solvent from a solid and to comply with product quality specifications, from toxicity to stability over time, and for easier handling.

We provide support to the industry to identify the most adequate drying solution to ensure process efficiency and reliability and to avoid contamination.

Our process solutions

Merging comprehensive experience in design and manufacturing vacuum dryers with process expertise, we now offer a wide range of solutions, from standalone dryers or filter dryers to modular turnkey systems to simultaneously satisfy functional needs and efficiency concerning project costs and execution time.

Our agitated dryers are designed and manufactured to comply with key functional requirements, such as:

  • Efficient and reproducible heat transfer
  • Effective and reliable mixing systems
  • Possibility to operate under vacuum
  • Corrosion resistant materials
  • Cleaning-in-place (CIP)

To best suit all our customers’ needs, we also design and provide thin film dryers when a high evaporation rate is necessary or extreme fouling products require processing.

Drying can be combined with filtration in a single unit, for even higher efficiency and product containment, as ensured by our pressure filter dryers.

More about filter dryers

Should a customer so request, modular filtration and drying systems may include:

  • Auxiliary equipment
  • Instrumentation
  • Piping
  • Glove box

For even more integrated solutions we combine different process and operation units, from reaction to drying, provided as standalone equipment or modular systems.

Active in the thermal and mechanical separation market since 1976 under the Mabo and Cogeim brands, we have provided over one thousand dryers and filter dryers to different industries, such as:

  • Agrochemicals
  • Biochemicals
  • Crop protection
  • Flavours & fragrances
  • Food & beverage
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Polymers
  • Precious and technology metals
  • Waste recovery

For applications requiring high containment, such as with APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) and especially with HPAPIs (highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients), dedicated glove boxes are also available.

Because no two products behave alike and to identify the most appropriate drying solution, we rely on our R&D centre equipped with pilot units. Tests are run on samples provided by the customer to study product behaviour, to identify the ideal process parameters to achieve the final target moisture, to optimise the drying rate and time and to support scale-up.

Different physical and chemical parameters are determined, including solid content, density and initial and residual moisture.
Process validation and reliability verification tests can also be run at the customer’s premises using rental pilot units. Field assistance during tests is available on request.
From testing to engineering and plant design, a dedicated team of scientists and engineers are available to assist and support our customers, working together one step at a time.
